Meet Gabby Thomas's Boyfriend Spencer McManes.
McManes will be cheering on his superstar girlfriend at the Paris Olympics.

"I was overwhelmed at my first Olympics in Tokyo in 2021. I wanted to experience everything," she told Elle. "But I also learned to trust myself. I learned that life really goes on after the Olympics. No matter what happens, it’s all going to be okay afterwards. It’s so hard to think about that in the moment, but when it’s all over and the world moves on, it’s all okay. So I’m trying to go into this Olympics with that perspective. It’s all going to be okay and I’m going to go do what I know how to do: have fun."

As she competed in Paris (and won gold!), her boyfriend, Spencer McManes, and his family was there cheering her on.

Get to know Gabby Thomas's boyfriend Spencer McManes:
He's from Georgia.
Spencer McManes, the son of Skip and Lori McManes, grew up in Roswell, Georgia. He has three siblings: Carter, Mackie, and Livvie.

McManes attended Blessed Trinity Catholic High School. At Blessed Trinity, he set multiple school records, including most single-game passing yards, most single-season passing yards, career passing yards, and career passing touch downs.

He played football at Yale.
McManes was the quarterback for Yale; he graduated in 2017 with a bachelor of arts in Political Science and Government.

After graduating, he worked for the McChrystal Group in Alexandria, Virginia, before moving to Austin, Texas. Then he joined People.ai, where he worked for a little over two years, and in August 2023, he started a new job at DataGrail as a Senior Customer Success Manager.

He adopted a dog in July 2021.
"Humans don’t deserve the unconditional love of dogs, but I’ll give you all got. I can’t wait to enjoy life with you," he posted on his Instagram.

He plays club rugby.
McManes was on the Austin Huns Rugby Club team.

McManes launched a non-alcoholic kava seltzer band.
He launched Kaviva last year, "a kava-based sparkling water served, with enough kava in one can to create a mouth tingling sensation and euphoric buzz. Kaviva comes in fruity flavors and is best served cold." Kava, the brand notes, "is a tropical evergreen plant, native to the Pacific Islands. Its root and stems are made into a non-alcoholic beverage, called kava. It’s traditionally consumed for its calming and euphoric effects."

Thomas and McManes started dating in October 2022.
It's unclear how Gabby Thomas and Spencer McManes met, but based on an anniversary post, they began dating in October 2022.
