The Bible doesn't provide many details about Mary's later life. She was present for the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. The last mention of her is in Acts chapter 1, verse 14, where she is with the other disciples and receives the baptism of the Holy Spirit, an incredible experience. Beyond biblical accounts, church tradition diverges. The Roman Catholic Church teaches the doctrine of the assumption of Mary, believing she was taken directly to heaven without experiencing death. The Eastern Orthodox Church also has a similar doctrine, though they allow for Mary to have died before being assumed into heaven. Protestants and evangelicals, however, do not adhere to these traditions as they are not supported by the Bible. Regardless, Mary is honored for her faith, love, and devotion to Jesus Christ.
