Slight spoiler warning, but it’s all stuff seen in my previous videos. If you want to skip my rant just pass the first two paragraphs.
So hey guys, I’m not dead! I’ve just been crazy busy with life right now and it won’t get much better until summer break hits. Until then, I won’t be posting as often as I was my first couple of months. Plus, I’m still trying to set up a print account to print all of my art from, and work on at least half a dozen out of school projects (for family and friends). Hopefully if summer break isn’t so crazy, I’ll get started on an original show concept I’ve had in mind for a few months (no promises).
Either way, this is part of my send off for Star Wars Rebels until it returns in the fall. I will still be doing videos, with Rebels and other fandoms, but I also want to be creating some original content more often. DO NOT see this as my last video ever, or my last Rebels video either, but it’s nearing the end of the school year and I have to concentrate on finals. I will still upload, just maybe once or twice a month until the school year is over (no guarantees though). Also, I’ve had this video ready to post for several weeks now, but I never got the chance to upload it. Sorry.
Oh, I should probably talk about my video concept. This video is a character study, as in the song tells the story of these two characters, (Ezra and Kanan), and their life journey. When I was listening to the song, I couldn’t stop thinking of these two, and the song fits so perfectly with what they’ve actually gone through. For example; Kanan losing his Master, (Depa Bilaba) during Order 66, Ezra being orphaned and left to live on his own, ex. But oh, the FEELS! I know it is another song by Danny Gokey, but I can’t help myself, it fit so well. Then again, almost ALL of his songs fit so well with these two. Okay, now onto the visual metaphors.
Beginning of the video- Ezra’s dream: to find his parents (you can even see him mouthing “Mom, dad, I will find you”). Kanan lost the one he loved the most: his Master, Depa Bilaba. This sets the stage for their life journey.
Middle of the video- Ezra and Kanan’s life journey: wars (literally and figuratively), love, sadness, joy. Their paths lead them to different realizations and revelations as they learn to leave their past behind and follow their own.
End of the video- Ezra and Kanan have learned what it means to be alive, because they have both experienced death (you can interpret that however you like).
I hope you enjoyed this as much as I had making it. Oh yeah, you might want a tissue or two, depending on how sensitive you are.
Psalm 23:4 – Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Song: This Is What It Means by Danny Gokey
