Pat Sheahan, one of the most successful coaches in Canadian university football history, has joined the Gryphon football program for the 2022 season as the team's offensive line coach. In doing so, he re-unites with his son, Ryan Sheahan, who has served as the head coach of the University of Guelph football program since 2019. The father-son duo previously spent six seasons working together at Queen's University, where Pat served as head coach for 18 seasons, with Ryan serving as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Together at Queen's, the Sheahan's helped lead the Gales to a Vanier Cup title in 2009. The father-son duo also have strong ties to the University of Calgary Dinos football program, with Ryan enjoying four successful seasons in Calgary (2015-2018) followed by Pat helping guide the Dinos to a Vanier Cup in 2019.
