The Business of Kenyan Tea Farmers

As the world’s biggest exporter of black tea and third biggest exporter of all teas, Kenya plays an important role in the global tea economy. But for the first time in five years, export volumes are set to decline as investment slows and purchases from the country’s biggest tea buyers wane. Smallholder tea farmers are now being encouraged to innovate and embrace the value-added process to stay competitive and weather the market volatility. Bloomberg’s Jennifer Zabasajja spoke with some trying to do just that in Limuru, Kenya.
