The Caltech Effect: The Human Side of Engineering

Описание к видео The Caltech Effect: The Human Side of Engineering

Caltech students Lawrence Lee and Stephanie Moon set out to help people with disabilities by creating wheelchair attachments for stroke victims, people with paralysis, and others. Their projects were part of the Caltech class Design for Freedom from Disability, in which Caltech and ArtCenter College of Design students prototype new assistive technologies. Lee and Moon ended up with a new respect for engineering. They credit mentors Ken Pickar, Andy Lin, and volunteers from Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center with giving them useful insights—and helping them see the good that engineers do in the world.
