In this brief video teaching excerpt from a full-length teaching entitled "Which Jesus Do You Serve?", Bible teacher/researcher Jerry Robinson examines the Zealots, as written of in the gospels of the New Testament.

The Zealots were one of four important religious groups that dominated Israel in the days of Jesus Christ.

The Zealots were a radicalized group of violent political rebels (aka "freedom fighters.") They eagerly sought to eradicate the "defiling" presence of pagan Roman laws and customs within Israel's borders through the assassination of strategic "establishment" leaders, usually in broad daylight.

Through many random acts of terrorism, the zealots sought to prepare the way for Messiah, whom they expected to also come with violence to deliver Israel from its pagan Roman oppressors.

Their rebellion sought to accelerate the return of Messiah.
