The Iona II is a protected wreck site near Lundy Island. The Iona II wrecked in 1864 and was an American paddle steamer which foundered off Lundy in foggy conditions, having left the River Clyde for her first transatlantic voyage via Madeira to Kingston in Jamaica and/or Nassau. There was contemporary speculation that the vessel was acting as a gun-runner for the Confederates in the American Civil War. Originally built as a ferry for the Clyde, she was constructed of iron with paddle wheels and a state-of-the-art twin cylinder oscillating engine.

In December 2022 Historic England put out a call for proposals to celebrate 50 years of the Protection of Wrecks Act. MSDS Marine were commissioned to undertake a project to bring maritime archaeology to inland, landlocked, audiences. As part of the project a 360° camera was loaned to licensee teams to gather footage of the protected wreck sites to use on a Oculus Go headset at public events.
