Paul Does Not Think Jesus was a Preexistent Divine Being --The Surprising Meaning of Philippians 2

Описание к видео Paul Does Not Think Jesus was a Preexistent Divine Being --The Surprising Meaning of Philippians 2

Did Paul believe that Jesus preexisted as a heavenly being? There is a section of Paul's letter to the Philippians (2:5-10), that both mythicists, many academics and historians, and almost all "believers," agree--namely that Paul views Jesus as a preexistence divine being--who left his heavenly abode and was incarnated as a flesh and blood human being. This "declaration," often called a pre-Pauline "Hymn" I argue has nothing to do with Jesus' preexistence. In fact it applies ideally, according to Paul, to every human being who is "called" by Christ to follow him. In this exposition, hosted by ‪@MythVisionPodcast‬ host, Derek Lambert, I lay out my understanding of this pivotal and foundational text. I also show how my reading of the text fits seamlessly with other passages in Paul--including 1 Corinthians 15; Romans 8, and 2 Corinthians 5.
