It is said about Surajkund that by bathing and worshiping here on four Sundays of the month of Paush, one gets relief from chronic skin diseases. Here thousands and lakhs of people take bath, worship and perform Bhandara on Purnima, Amavasya, Narmada Jayanti, Mahashivratri and other big festivals.
There are bathing facilities at Surajkund Ghat.
The Tourism Department has also developed Surajkund as a tourist destination. A permanent ghat has been built here. Changing rooms have been made at the ghat for women to change their clothes. There are special arrangements for lighting and cleanliness. Both sides of Narmada are called Kund. From morning to evening, the sounds of Har-Har Narmade and Har-Har Mahadev are heard here.
Bathing here on Sunday has special significance
Sunday is an important day of the Kund. Every Sunday people and skin patients from all over the state come here to take bath. A fair of devotees is organized on this day. Bhandaras and donations are made. Suryadev had performed penance at the pond. Narmadasevi Pandit Akhilesh Guru tells that Surajkund has its own importance. Especially this pond is called a bathing center for the treatment of skin diseases. This pond is also mentioned in Narmada Purana. Here Lord Suryadev did rigorous penance for Mother Narmada. That is why it is named Surajkund. In Surajkund, Mother Narmada flows in the southern direction and flows in the north. Because of this, the sun's rays fall directly on the pond.
