Weather Routing Explained! - How to choose your route and get weather forecasts

Описание к видео Weather Routing Explained! - How to choose your route and get weather forecasts

In this video edit I explain the routing choices we made, good and bad. I also talked about a few of the shortcomings from the popular and easy to use predictwind software for cruisers. We were faced with an unusual situation as the Azores anticyclone was divided in 2. The weather forecasting models advised us to go north of the low pressure. This is what the racing boats in the transquadra ocean race did. They had a fast but very tiring passage and most of the boats broke a lot of gear. We tried to get to Cape Verde to get the tradewinds, following the classic cruising route but ended up stuck in the eastern part of the anticyclone for 2 days before eventually reaching the north easterly trades. One thing we learned along the way is how to use the swell to our advantage.
