When transitioning forward, Jack uses a similar technique but with a different energy. He imagines pushing a swing forward, sitting up and gently bringing his seat forward, guiding the horse to move ahead. The connection between the rider’s seat and the horse’s movement becomes clear. Whether moving backward or forward, the rider's weight and seat are the driving forces behind the action.

Jack also touches on the concept of delivering these aids through a loose, relaxed lower back, which helps communicate more subtly and effectively. This approach emphasizes the power of invisible aids, body movements and shifts that guide the horse with minimal, yet clear, cues.
