Why did Pokemon add FAIRY Type Specifically? | Gnoggin - Fairy Type Explained

In generation 6 of Pokemon, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, we were introduced to the Fairy type. But why was it added? and why not a different type? Why was "FAIRY" type chosen specifically?
