The James Webb Space Telescope of NASA has already provided the sharpest and deepest infrared photographs of the outer reaches of the cosmos to date. The most recent shot, though, shows a significantly closer object. Jupiter is a massive gas planet, and it is beautiful! In the wake of Hubble, Webb is the next major space research observatory that will help us understand the universe and produce ground-breaking discoveries across all of astronomy. Webb will be able to view further back in time, from the creation of the first stars and planets in the early Universe to the genesis of the first galaxies.
