Heart-breaking footage shows the moment a hungry lion takes down a baby giraffe just two hours after it was born.

Claire Radloff, from East London, shot the video whilst on safari in Shamwari Private Game Reserve, South Africa, with ranger Kelvin Buys.

Filmed on October 12, the beginning of the video shows the rare moment the infant giraffe took its first steps next to its mother and learned to stand on its own.

However, within a matter of hours, two hungry lions spot the vulnerable animal and pounce on it having forced the mother to flee.
