FANNING ISLAND: THE WORLD'S MOST REMOTE INHABITED ISLAND

Описание к видео FANNING ISLAND: THE WORLD'S MOST REMOTE INHABITED ISLAND

VISIT THE WORLD'S MOST REMOTE INHABITED ISLAND - FANNING ISLAND OR FANNING ATOLL (TABUAERON) Remote Tabuaeran known in English as Fanning island or Fanning atoll is in the central Pacific Ocean and part of the Republic of Kiribati. The Fanning island population is approximately 1,950; all live in eight tiny villages around a lagoon. Language is Gilbertese, but English is widely spoken, too. There is a dirt road that completely circles the lagoon around Fanning. There are small dirt trails running in every direction from that road. You will not find any traditional stores on the island - no Academy Sports or 7-11s. There are locals that are willing to sell you certain trinkets and American dollars are generally happily accepted. Based on two trips to Fanning island - in 2016 and 2019, I can confirm this island is a hidden travel gem. I believe two cruise lines visit Fanning island - once each - every 2-3 years.
