2nd Gen Ford Escape Transmission Fluid Change - Improving Shift Quality

Описание к видео 2nd Gen Ford Escape Transmission Fluid Change - Improving Shift Quality

In this Steve's Garage video I go over Fords procedure to change the transmission fluid in a 2nd gen Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, or MazdaTribute. My goal with this transmission fluid change was to improve the shift quality of the 2-3 shift in my Ford Escape. When the Ford Escape is cold, I experience a rough shift from 2-3.

Because the 08-12 Ford Escapes have a sealed transmission, and non-serviceable transmission filter, your only option is to drain the fluid and re-fill. The Ford service manual suggests draining and filling the transmission 3 times in order to fully flush the transmission of the old fluid.

This is a good service for a Ford Escape even if you aren't experiencing rough shifts, because the concept of lifetime transmission fluid is debatable. There are many 08-12 Ford Escape owners who are experiencing transmission shift problems so this is far from an isolated incident.

If you have a procedure you'd like to share, please leave it in the comments! I'd love to know how you've gotten your CD2 chassis vehicle to shift better.
