On Friday, the White House announced that it was adding 10 mining projects to a dashboard aimed at expediting their federal permitting processes a move that the White House says will quote “lead to greater accountability, ensuring a more efficient process.”
The list includes the Resolution Copper mine, a Warrior Met Coal Mine in Alabama, a Standard Lithium project Perpetua Resources’ Stibnite Gold Project in Idaho, Jindalee Lithium’s McDermitt exploration project in Oregon, Hecla Mining’s Libby exploration project in Montana, and others.
We’ve previously mentioned the U.S. Trade Representative’s plans to impose port fees in response to Chinese practices in the shipbuilding sector. The USTR came out on Friday with its final recommendation and it made adjustments to the original proposal to account for concerns expressed by key stakeholders, including the mining industry.

And just yesterday, Department of the Interior Secretary Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said he is confident President Donald Trump will negotiate a tariff deal with China, but stressed that building up national production of rare-earth minerals is a key element of the equation.
Secretary Burgum said to FOX News Sunday, “We’ve basically been at war on mining in this country for anything, not just rare earth minerals, critical minerals, but base minerals that we would have.” Burgum noted that the administration is working to beef up domestic mineral supply in a number of ways.
