Small Hive Beetle Eradication in a Hive

Описание к видео Small Hive Beetle Eradication in a Hive

I saw more small hive beetles than I would've liked when I put fondant on this colony a few days back, so I want to prevent a small hive beetle infestation. Weak hives can so very easily succumb to Small Hive Beetles if they become too small to combat them. The beetle population out-paces the bee growth and the hatching larvae become too much for the bees to stay ahead of. That's when the larvae begin to consume pollen and honey and they then defecate and liquify the honey resulting in the classic sliming of the hive. The bees, already being weak and/or sick, dwindle to nothing and larger colonies eventually abscond. That is the end of that colony and the equipment is quite nasty and requires scraping and cleaning. This is what we are here to protect from today.

Thanks for joining me in my bee yard here in Louisiana as I share how I maintain my beehives. My videos are not meant to be 'How To' videos, but simply me sharing my experiences in beekeeping as I learned it from my mentors, teachers, and studies.
