The Governing and Conception Vessels Exercises

During this darkest time of the year, when, traditionally our ancestors would rest, but we are often busy, I want to share a lovely movement practice which can help you to centre and nourish yourself. If you have enjoyed these movements, you can go to the full video on my youtube channel which is 26 minutes long.    • Governing and Conception (Du Mai & Re...   . You’ll also find other practices and talks.

These movements introduce you to two of the most fascinating energy pathways in your body: the Governing Vessel and the Conception Vessel.

I have created a mudra for them by connecting the meridians of their main regulating points Lung 7 (Conception Vessel) and Small Intestine 3 (Governing Vessel). Touch your thumb and little finger together and hold the space in your hands.

I have also created an affirmation for both:

🌟I am the source and I am connected to the source

Affirmation for Conception Vessel:

🌟I nourish you from within

Affirmation for Governing Vessel:

🌟 I guide and protect you

The Governing Vessel is often called the 'Sea of Yang' because it strengthens and energises all the yang energy in your body—think of it as the energy that gives you vitality, drive, and resilience. This channel starts at your tailbone, runs up your spine, over your head, and ends at the roof of your mouth. It’s your energetic backbone, literally helping you stand tall in life.

The Conception Vessel, or the 'Sea of Yin,' is all about nurturing, calming, and connecting. It starts at your pelvis, travels up the centre of your body, and ends at your lower lip. It’s the channel that helps you feel grounded, cared for, and balanced, supporting your emotional well-being and creativity.

Together, these two channels form a yin-yang partnership, connecting the front and back of your body. They regulate how energy flows in all your 12 meridians, making them essential for overall harmony in your system.
When they’re in balance, you feel energised yet calm, grounded yet open, strong yet soft.
