Now in its fourth year, the 2019 Fluid Power Technology Conference continues to add technical content to educate users and maintainers of hydraulic and pneumatic systems on how to design and manage their machines efficiently. Here, Mary Gannon and Paul Heney give the rundown on the three-day event to be held at the Milwaukee School of Engineering's Kern Center May 13-15. Keynote presentations include The Robot Report’s Dan Kara, who will give attendees the low-down on Robotics Solutions for Small-to-Medium Manufacturers, while Donna Ritson from DDR Communications presents on “The Evolution of Advanced Automation,” giving attendees a look at the role of pneumatics in automation, embedded intelligence, and the growth of smart machines on the plant floor. Engineering leaders from Komatsu Mining, CNH Industrial and Zoomlion will join a panel to discuss how the hydraulics versus electrics debate has been playing out the last few years, what’s on the horizon for mobile hydraulics technology, and what OEMs want to see from hydraulic component manufacturers in the next couple of years.

In addition, several industry experts will be on hand to give technology updates, offer basics and advanced training and more. Fluid Power World reader favorites Carl Dyke, Ron Marshall, and Josh Cosford are bringing their expertise and Canadian wit to the classroom. During the Monday Workshop day, the FPTC will be offering an introduction to fluid power course by MSOE’s Tom Wanke, an Advanced Hydraulics Mashup course from the International Fluid Power Society’s Tom Blansett, and new this year, the IFPS is offering all of its certifications on-site at MSOE as well. The event also offers opportunities to tour the HUSCO International facility as well as MSOE’s Grohmann Museum, Fluid Power Institute Lab and Rapid Prototyping Center.
