I learned this piece to play it at the IKMMA 2019 in Gdańsk. Anna was the composer in residence for this course so there was a concert in which only her compositions were played. I made so many mistakes that I didn't want to upload it, especially as I knew that it would be the only recording on YouTube. However, I'm still not able to play it through with a low amount of mistakes so I admit it that this time I did some serious cutting. I've never spent that much time making a music video, so I'm glad that it is finally done.


While learning this piece last year, I wondered why it is so serious, sad and desperate, nothing that puts a sleeping baby into my mind.
Anna wrote this piece for a girl named Alicja. She was born early and they didn't know whether she would make it or not. The music resembles the time of uncertainty in the hospital when they were all waiting and hoping, knowing they weren't able to do anything. The high notes in 3:00 and also in the end are an immitation of the beeping of the machines.
She survived (and she likes this recording).
