How to use Launch Control on the S1000RR

Описание к видео How to use Launch Control on the S1000RR

To activate Launch Control, start the engine in neutral. While idling, press and hold the start button again until the display shows: "L-Con: 3 starts still available." Put in first gear, twist throttle to wide open and keep it wide open. The RPM will go to 9,000 and stay there. Release the clutch progressively & rapidly but not suddenly. Maintain the throttle in the fully open position. The bike will accelerate rapidly potentially achieving a slight wheelie. The electronics will limit power so the front wheel does not rise more than a few inches.

The 9,000 RPM limit will deactivate at approximately 45mph. Be ready to upshift when redline is reached. It's crucial to maintain the throttle at a wide-open (100%) position to utilize Launch Control effectively. Closing the throttle partially or completely will deactivate Launch Control. A partial release such as going from 100% to 90% can risk a sudden and uncontrolled wheelie because Launch Control will deactivate with high RPMs in a low gear.

When properly executed, Launch Control support concludes when any of the following occurs: 1) third gear is reached, 2) thirty degrees of lean angle is detected, 3) engine or ignition is switched off (duh), or 4) the brake is actuated.

The system allows three launches before displaying "L-Con not available. Clutch too hot." Let bike idle for approx 3 minutes or turn off for 20 minutes to enable further use of Launch Control. Keep in mind the bike will accelerate about as fast as physics will allow for a stock sportbike, approximately 22mph per second, or 0-60 in under 3 seconds. This can take getting used to.

Using Launch Control on a public road in the presence of other motorists or obstacles is a bad life decision. Seriously, it's not a good idea. If you want to use it, go someplace with no one around, full gear, nothing to run into, and plenty of space. Ideal venues include a dragstrip, a racetrack, or similar suitable location.
