"Genesis" often refers to the first book of the Bible, which recounts the creation of the world and early human history. It's also used more broadly to mean the beginning or origin of something.

Genesis chapter 2 provides a more detailed account of the creation of man and woman. It describes how God formed Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed life into him. Adam was placed in the Garden of Eden to tend to it, and God commanded him not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God then created animals and birds, and Adam named them all. However, Adam still felt alone, so God created Eve from one of Adam's ribs to be his companion. The chapter ends with the statement that Adam and Eve were both naked and felt no shame.
