What does a school look like in one of the world’s most densely populated cities?

Designed by reMIX studio, Futian High School redefines the traditional campus by dissolving boundaries between education and the city. Built for 3,000 students on a 41,000 m² site, the campus expands vertically into 120,000 m² of interconnected learning spaces.

Courtyards, bridges, roof gardens, and shared civic facilities transform circulation into social space, while porous massing brings light, air, and human scale into a high-density environment. Open sports and cultural facilities further position the school as a civic anchor within Shenzhen’s urban fabric.

More than a school, Futian is a prototype for future learning environments—where architecture supports interaction, adaptability, and community.
