A visit to the ruins of Sultan Ali Dinar's Summer Palace, in Al Malam, Darfur, where be was born and raised. Sultan Ali Dinar was the last Sultan of Darfur, which he ruled as an independent state until 1916, when he was killed by the British. His story seems particularly relevant today as Darfur is to be re-united as a single Sudanese province, with increased political and economic autonomy.
