How to create EBS Snapshots | EBS Volumes from snapshot | AWS Tutorial for beginners in Malayalam

Описание к видео How to create EBS Snapshots | EBS Volumes from snapshot | AWS Tutorial for beginners in Malayalam

Humans make mistakes, and so do apps they create. A good system expects this and uses proactive/reactive recovery methods. EBS Snapshots are one such method.

EBS snapshots are a great way to back up your Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) volumes. They can be used to create new volumes, restore data that has been accidentally deleted, or migrate data between regions. In this video, I will show you how to create EBS snapshots and how to use them to create new volumes.

Here are some of the topics that I will cover in this video:

What is EBS?
Why you should use EBS snapshots
What are incremental and point in time snapshots?
How to create an EBS snapshot
How to create a new volume from an EBS snapshot

More details
Amazon EBS (Elastic Block Store) snapshots are point-in-time copies of your EBS volumes. They serve as a reliable and cost-effective way to back up your data and protect against data loss.

Key Concepts:

Incremental Backups: EBS snapshots are incremental, meaning they only store the blocks of data that have changed since the last snapshot. This significantly reduces storage costs and backup time.
Point-in-Time Recovery: Snapshots capture your data at a specific moment, allowing you to restore your volumes to a previous state in case of accidental data loss or corruption.
Region-Specific: EBS snapshots are region-specific, meaning you can create snapshots in any region where your EBS volumes reside.
Snapshot Lifecycle Management: You can automate snapshot lifecycle management using AWS Backup or custom scripts to retain snapshots for a specific duration and then automatically delete them.
Benefits of EBS Snapshots:

Data Protection: Protects against accidental data loss and corruption.
Disaster Recovery: Enables quick and easy recovery of data in case of a disaster.
Compliance: Helps meet data retention and compliance requirements.
Cost-Effective: Incremental backups and efficient storage make snapshots cost-effective.
Flexibility: Snapshots can be used to create new volumes, migrate data between regions, or test new applications.
How to Create an EBS Snapshot:

You can create EBS snapshots using the AWS Management Console, AWS CLI, or AWS SDKs. Here's a basic overview of the process:

Select the Volume: Identify the EBS volume you want to create a snapshot of.
Initiate Snapshot Creation: Start the snapshot creation process.
Monitor Progress: Track the snapshot creation progress, which may take some time depending on the volume size.
Verify Completion: Once the snapshot is complete, it will be available in your AWS account.
Using EBS Snapshots:

Creating a New Volume: You can create a new EBS volume from a snapshot, providing a clean copy of your data.
Restoring Data: In case of data loss, you can restore your volume from a snapshot to recover your data.
Migrating Data: Snapshots can be used to migrate data between regions or availability zones.
Testing and Development: You can create development or testing environments using snapshots of your production volumes.
By effectively utilizing EBS snapshots, you can enhance your data protection strategy, reduce downtime, and maintain business continuity.
