Variants of Uncertain Significance

This video provides more information about variants of uncertain significance (VUS). Everyone has genetic variants. Some have the potential to impact our health and others do not. After a genetic variant is identified, the genetic testing laboratory determines how a variant impacts the structure and function of the gene and if there is a related health condition. Sometimes, there may not be enough information to determine whether a variant impacts health and disease. In these cases, the variant is classified as a VUS.
