Eisner Awards Are As Worthless As Oscars

The 2022 Eisner Awards nominations were announced this week. One thing is clear. There is a huge disconnect between actual comic readers and the comic book industry. DC Comics receiving more nominations than any other comic book publisher is a disgrace. For most comic fans, this is the worst stretch as far as quality in DC Comics history. The Eisner Awards appears incapable of identifying good and bad comic books. Kelly Sue DeConnick's writing in Wonder Woman: Historia is some of the worst of the year. Yet Wonder Woman: Historia #1 is up for best single-issue comic of 2022. The disconnect between comic book readers and the Eisner Awards panel are another reason the Eisner Awards are as worthless as the Oscars.
