Longtime listeners of the program will recognize Captain Hook as the first musician we entered into the Great Gospel Archive. I wouldn't consider myself an aficianado of his work just yet, but I can comfortably say I'm a fan.

For those of you who have no clue what I'm talking about, Captain Hook was a teenage deliquent who was saved after a debilitating motorcycle accident left him without one of his arms and one of his legs. He used the character of Captain Hook as a way to preach, with a series of themed records in the late 70s. They usually came with little goodies (my copy still has it's eye-patch!)

This record includes a solemn section about an orphan singing a prayer while being laughed at by a rich woman, a song from the ventriloquist sidekick of Captain Hook named Sharkey, and a few songs. Also of note is the production by famed gospel songwriter and producer Rusty Goodman, whose songs were most famously covered by Elvis friggin' Presley.
