Years ago I saw the Gon Bops conga rack at NAMM and figured I wanted to do something like that but with my existing gear. I already owned a basic curved drum rack, the percussion mount station rack, and a 3-sided chrome rack.
After speaking with Brent from Gibraltar, I realized I could do what I needed to do to mount my drums but Gibraltar didn't have the right clamps and accessories. Gon Bops had the remaining parts I needed. After some trial and error, I figured out how to fit my drums on and keep them secure. The last major change to the rack included adding locking casters to each of the four legs to make the whole rack mobile and easy to roll despite the weight. I do change the wing extensions up depending on the situation or show and the instrumentation I need. This front portion does remain the same regardless.
