Mourners waited in line on Thursday to spend a few minutes filing past the coffin of Queen Elizabeth the second while she lies in state.
The queue is expected to become as long as 16 kilometers, and people in line were warned of a 10 hour wait.

Thousands of mourners waited for hours on Thursday to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth the second.
The queue into Westminster Hall, where the Queen's coffin was lying in state, stretched almost eight kilometers across London.
Some even had to wait as long as 10 hours to spend just a few minutes walking past the Queen's coffin on the second day it was open to the public.

The queue snakes along the south bank of the River Thames and passes landmarks like the London Eye, the Royal Festival Hall, and the Globe Theater.

The queue itself is a huge logistical operation, as authorities expect it to become as long as 16 kilometers.
More than 500 portable toilets, water fountains, and first aid stations have been installed along the route, while thousands of stewards, police officers and marshalls are working at any given time.
Each mourner is given a special wristband indicating their position in the queue, which is inspected at various checkpoints along the line.
The UK government has also set up a live tracker that displays the current length and end point of the queue, warning potential mourners to prepare for a very long wait.

Government officials said they expect around 750-thousand people including tourists to visit the Queen's coffin.
People were dressed in dark clothing and paused to look before leaving the hall, while some were seen in tears or bowing their heads.
Photography and use of mobile phones is strictly banned while inside and there's airport-like security at the entrance.
An orderly queue began to form outside the Palace of Westminster on Monday, two days before the hall's doors were even due to public, as soon as plans for the Queen's lying-in-state were announced.

Members of the public will be able to walk past the coffin until 6:30 AM on September 19th, the day of the Queen's funeral which will be attended by dozens of world leaders.
After the funeral, her coffin will travel to Windsor, where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband in Saint George's Chapel.

Queen Elizabeth, Britain's longest-reigning monarch, died peacefully last Thursday at Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands.
