In From Chaos to Clarity, we share the inside story of how Human-Centered Design is helping our organisation in navigating the chaos of tricky and complex problems through empathetic, user-driven clarity. Through several key projects, we learned to stop guessing and start listening—discovering people’s needs, testing fast, failing smarter, and involving real people in shaping more efficient solutions. Along the way, co-design became more than a process—it became a mindset that shaping our teams, products and services, and culture. This talk offers honest lessons, practical strategies, and a look at what it really takes to embed HCD into everyday work. Richelle Spry has twenty years of experience in digital science, including over a decade at Geoscience Australia. She is highly skilled in geospatial information technologies, DevOps, and digital delivery, having led numerous initiatives both in public and private sectors. Dedicated to achieving optimal outcomes for stakeholders, she has been driving Human Centred Design approaches for digital science products and services at Geoscience Australia.
