Dell Precision T1700 Workstation Memory Spec Overview & Upgrade Tips | How to Configure the System

The Dell Precision T1700 is a single socket tower supporting Intel E3-1200 V3 series CPUs (LGA1150 socket). The T1700 chassis style is a compact mini tower / small form factor (SFF). There are 4 DIMM slots utilizing DDR3 memory modules. You can configure your T1700 workstation with 2 types of RAM: ECC Unbuffered (Server UDIMM) or Non-ECC Unbuffered (Desktop UDIMM). The three speed options available are 1333MHz, 1600MHz or 1866MHz. The size options include 2GB, 4GB or 8GB. You cannot put 16GB DIMMs into this machine. Meaning the max configuration is 32GB via (4 x 8GB) DDR3 PC3-14900E 1866MHz ECC Unbuffered Memory. If you want to use Non-ECC Unbuffered, then you can only max out at 16GB via either 4 x 4GB or 2 x 8GB. Best configuration is with ECC Unbuffered Memory.
