John Robinson, Organist and Director of Music at Blackburn Cathedral, performs 'Veni Creator en Taille à 5 (Plein jeu)' by Nicolas de Grigny (1672-1703) on the organ of Blackburn Cathedral, Lunchtime Recitals Series, Wednesday 10th July, 2024.

Nicolas de Grigny: 1672-1703, came from a musical family – his father was organist at Reims Cathedral where Nicolas eventually followed him.

i Veni Creator en taille à 5 (Plein jeu): 3 minutes Arresting, strong music on the Great to mixtures

      ii Fugue à 5 nearly 3 minutes. Most of the interest is played by the hands supported by a quiet pedal.    

  iii Duo Jolly music for manuals only: 3 minutes

     iv Récit de Cromorne, 3 ½ minutes

      v Dialogue sur les grands Jeux : 3.5 minutes
