How To Watch the Leonid Meteor Shower (2019)

With the Moon in the sky at peak time, here's your guide to getting the most out of watching this year's Leonid Meteor Shower. This sky show is one of the best skywatching events of the year you don't want to miss. Make sure you keep your eyes out for fireballs as the Leonids are known to produce amazingly bright meteors. And all you need is just your eyes - how easy is that!

In this video I will give you a bit of a background explaining what meteor showers are and what makes the Leonids so special. There are over a dozen meteor showers that hit our skies every year but the actual sky show they produce varies from year to year because of many astronomical and meteorological reasons. So you will find out what to expect this year with the Leonids.

I'll also share some specific viewing tips on how to actually get the most out of the meteor shower this year.

Big tip: No need for binoculars or telescopes to watch the meteors fly above - just clear skies.
