SRC had a significant role during the preparation and installation of the EGC equipment on two of Stena Bulk tankers - Imperator and Immaculate. The main contractor outsourced the installation as an EPC contract to SRC. The short lead and preparation time made the project challenge. With the support of all parties SRC managed to reduce the design- and initial preparation time to 7 weeks a reduction of 30 %.

To avoid an extra docking the installation was done afloat bringing additional elements to overcome in the design and installation phase. The completion time between the first and second ship was reduced by 11 days from 30 to 19 days indicates a strong development in the learning and is a good KPI for similar projects in the future.

With the decision to use EGC solution to remove SOx from the exhaust gases, having SRC as the EPC partner (excluding the EGC equipment’s) made it possible for the end customer to maintain the Marpol SOx compliance and continue to finalize the installation and to continue to operate on HFO.
