Meet Melissa, Avenues Recovery alumni of Concord, and hear her inspiring story of triumph over addiction. When Melissa arrived at Avenues, she felt disconnected from the rest of the women and was hesitant to truly begin addiction recovery. She didn’t feel like a drug addict who needed help reaching sobriety. She began the program ‘dragging her feet’, unwilling to face herself and her addiction.
The magic of the strong sense of community at Avenues Recovery is what enabled Melissa to lower her defenses and begin her recovery journey.
Through feeling loved and accepted, Melissa was able to properly partake in treatment. Recovery from addiction allowed Melissa to feel love, life, and connection again. Her addiction had left her lonely and shut off for years, isolated in her own world. Surrounded by her new community, Melissa made the decision to give the program her all, and the results were astounding. As she says "Avenues Saved my life!”.
Melissa credits her ‘amazing’ therapists and group facilitators for helping her reach where she is today. Thanks to Avenues Recovery she is now a former addict surrounded by a new, supportive community. Her journey from addiction to recovery wasn’t easy, but well worth it.
