Roy Buchanan - Down By the River (live, 1987)

Recorded live in New Haven, CT in August, 1987. Some of his last recorded work, this gig shows how he changed his approach during this period. Previously renown for turning his amp volume wide open and playing without pedals (ca. early thru the mid-70s), in this recording you can hear him (and the band) using different effects (e.g., delay, chorus) that were ubiquitous throughout 80s pop music. It's a jarring contrast for me (I preferred the style on "Live Stock") and I was hesitant to post this (as I am hesitant to post his version of Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" from this same gig: garish, over the top). But it's part of his catalogue and one for the archives.
