FAST Ford: 8-second street car

Regarded as one of the best performance sedans ever sold in Australia, the Ford Performance Vehicles or FPV F6, was essentially a factory upgraded Ford XR6 out of the box. Making 420hp and peak torque at a touch under 2000rpm, the turbocharged 4L six cylinder provided fantastic acceleration.

Nem's 2008 example shown here is nothing short of remarkable. In stock trim the car ran 12.34 at 115mph. Over the past 5 years the times have tumbled to the point where this street car is simply too fast for the track, making over 1100hp to the tyres on north of 40 pounds of boost. Impressively the F6 still retains an OEM 6spd auto and IRS suspension.

Nem's recently drove the car to Calder Park but due to not holding a current ANDRA safety ticket, the Ford was only able to perform one pass, but he sure made it count.
