Background: Qamar Zaman, the Pakistani squash champion who has had to play second string in so many British Open and World Open championships to the Australian Geoff Hunt, is in fine from this year. And in his opening round game of the British Open, Zaman defeated Egypt's Alladin Allouba in straight sets...nine-two, nine four, nine-five.

SYNOPSIS: The British Open being played at the wembley court in London in worth seventeen thousand pounds sterling this year (thirty four thousand dollars U.S.). Zaman raced through the first set giving the Egyptian Allouba, dressed in a T-shirt with coloured front panels, little chance of settling down.

Qamar Zaman knows what it's like to win a British Open. He won the title in the 1974-75 season and since then has always been among the world's best three...viewing with his countryman, Mohibullah Khan. Zaman wins the first set, nine-two.

Zaman serves at set point, second set. Commentators describe his style of squash as magic. They say he has an indistinct which allows him to his shots and winners from unbelievable angles. After a strong rally Allouba finally mis-hits and Zaman takes the set, nine-four.

Zaman's major opponent in the championships will be the current British title-holder, Geoff Hunt. The thirty-two year old Australian will be trying this year to win the trophy for the sixth time in an attempt to equal the successes of Britain's Jonah Barrington.
