‘Burn The Boats’: History of Great Islamic General Tariq Bin Ziyad | InfoDeck365

Tariq Bin Ziyad was general of Banu Umayyah. He ended Christian rule in Spain and started Muslim rule in Europe in 711. He is considered one of the most important military leaders of Spain.
Earlier he was serving under Musa Bin Naseer who ordered Tariq Bin Ziyad to attack Spain. Musa Bin Naseer, who was a known and skilled general, trained Tariq Bin Ziyad. That is why Tariq bin Ziyad quickly gained fame in the art of war. His bravery and military maneuvers became the talk of the town. Tariq bin Ziyad, with a small army, conquered Spain, a large part of Europe, and spread the knowledge of Islam here. The Islamic Empire in Europe was started by this great general and with this great victory, Europe started on the path of development.
Tariq bin Ziyad bin Abdullah was not only one of the best generals in the world but he was also a pious, dutiful and courageous man and because of his good manners, he was respected by the people and the soldiers.
In April 711, the Islamic army landed on the coast of Spain and set foot near a mountain, which was later renamed Jabal e Tariq after Tariq bin Zayed, which is called Gibraltar by the Europeans. Tariq bin Ziyad chose a safe place for the battle. Before the battle, he ordered the burning of all his ships so that the Islamic army would not be able to retreat if it thought of retreating because of the large number of the enemy. In that case, the Islamic army had only one option: to defeat the enemy or to lay down its life.
It was such a great tactic that it gained prominence from the great generals who came. After the conquest, Tariq bin Ziyad captured the capital Talita without any resistance. Tariq bin Ziyad was made governor of Spain.
Upon hearing the news of Tariq bin Ziyad's victory, Musa bin Naseer handed over the government to his son Abdullah and joined Tariq ibn Ziyad himself. Together they conquered many more territories.
This great conqueror of the Islamic world died in 720 AD.
