In the spring of 1976, after teaching 4th grade for 4 years at Lincoln School in Kingsburg, I helped my students create our first classroom movie. At that time, a Super8 camera was all I could afford the use.
My students helped come up with some film making ideas that could work for a short video to show their parents at Open House. Props and signs were made as the Super8 camera had no sound capabilities. Another issues was editing the movie.....
Since I did not have a very good splicer in the early stages, most editing was done in-camera by starting and stopping the camera during filming.
During our Open House showing I also used a tape deck to play music to accompany the action on film.
The kids had a great time creating this movie and I enjoyed as well so this movie was the first of our classroom's annual movie presentations.
The early tapes were eventually converted to digital but unfortunately, quality was compromised by the age of the 8-millimeter film so this "first run" feature is not of the best quality.
I do hope it will still bring back some of fun memories!
