I was first exposed to Hornby and other electric trains by my father when I was 10 years old. Since then I had the desire to build a model railway layout, but it materialised 55 years later because of the lack of time to dedicate to such a detailed project.
I used mostly Hornby products including all trains and locomotives.
This layout can run in different combination s or run 5 trains in both decks simultaneously. It took me 5 months to complete the project mainly due to covid related relays on delivery by courier and Registered airmail.
The layout is lit using 3v led lights, a total of 15 at present. All trains ,buildings, tracks and other accessories used were brand new.
Trains can change tracks through points but the points are manual and I have used a simple power and light controlling system in order to easily repair in Srilanka, in case of a technical problem by using R7229 standard Hornby controllers, one each for each locomotive and older Hornby transformer cut controller for all lights.
Its therefore, being constructed using basic analogue principles of operating model trains.
I took great pains to improve and beautifying layout by using artificial bushes trees, lichen, conifer trees hills covered with deciduous and other trees and green powder for surface, as well as bridges, tunnels Road bridges and a garden in the centre of the board, which contains station masters house car park etc.
