English Patched - Tengai Makyou Zero: A 14-Year Journey

Описание к видео English Patched - Tengai Makyou Zero: A 14-Year Journey

IT'S FINALLY HERE!

It took a while -- like, 14 years "a while" -- but, nevertheless, the wait is officially over and Tengai Makyou Zero can now be played in English.

You can download the patch here:

To be fair, the translation work wasn't attempted by just one group. It was pioneered by the guys at DeJap, then was adopted by Yonin no Translations (YnT), and it eventually landed on Tom-and-company's hands. And if not for Tom's love for the TM series (yes, if you didn't know, Tengai Makyou is a series) and perseverance. the game's translation would most likely still be up in the air. Tom also translated worked on translations for Oriental Blue: Ao no Tengai and Pesona 2: Innocent Sin (PSX).

BACKGROUND

Tengai Makyou is dominantly an RPG series, which dominantly takes place in a fictitious version of an actual country, like "Jipang" (for "Japan"). Usually, these games are adaptations of a fictitious book called "Far East of Eden" created by a fictitious author named "Paul Hieronymous Chada" (P. H. Chada). According to Tom, the "Far East of Eden" text only appears with the title when the game's setting is in Jipang and, therefore, shouldn't be used to refer to the series.

Tengai Makyou Zero is a spin-off entry in the series and might be the largest game on the SNES/SFC platform, boasting a 64 Megabit ROM size. Its size is compressed, thanks to the SPC7110 chip, which was also the biggest reason why the patch took so long to finish. Through this chip, a real-time clock also exists, which is extensively used by the game to activate a multitude of events (e.g. shop schedules). The time that runs in the real world is the same in the game, whether or not the game is running.

COMPATIBILITY

The English patch is supported by a very limited number of emulators. As of this posting, only bsnes/Higan and a custom version of SNES9X for the Wii support it. However, there is news that support will be added to the main version of SNES9X and RetroArch (so it will eventually also be playable on the SNES Classic). If your PC can handle it, I recommend using bsnes/Higan, since it's the most accurate SNES/SFC emulator out there. If not, go with the Wii version.
