Описание к видео Devil's Den Arkansas bike in camp sites Bk4 Bk5 Bk6

When I decided to visit Devil's Den State Park in Arkansas I couldn't find ANY information about the "bike in" sites. I found conflicting info everywhere I looked, so I took this video no sound of the exact "hike" to the campground. First of all, the campground isn't even on the map provided by the state park. Secondly, there is no signage labeling it "bike in campgrounds". I asked a lady in the visitors center where I needed to go and she pointed to the very bottom of the map provided (I'll try and post a picture of it in the comments below) labeled "Devil's Racetrack". She said head back the way you came in, pass the horse campground and turn left. This is where you will find the sites Bk1-Bk6. When you arrive to the parking lot there are two vault toilets and two changing stalls. There is no signage pointing you in the direction of the campsites. The rocky path just beyond these splits left and right. To the right you will find Bk1, Bk2 and Bk3. Bk1 is for disabled campers (group site) Bk2 and Bk3 appeared to be regular campsites. All along Lee creek. If you go left from the path it is much more of a walk to find the sites (Bk6 is first- group site, then Bk5 which is where we stayed and then Bk4 is last) which is why I took this video. At first I couldn't find the sites (4-6) and was worried I would get lost on a bike trail. Luckily my husband found a park ranger who showed us where to go. Very easy path; we were able to use our wagon to bring supplies in and out. I'd say the sites are maybe .2mi from the parking lot. As you can see it's a 4 minute walk or so. No crossing any water, and the sites are situated along Lee creek as well. I'm not a vlogger & our wagon was noisy so I just muted the video. Forgive me🤷🏼‍♀️ I would also like to note that it is advertised that all sites have hammock poles. That is true, EXCEPT for Bk5 which was frustrating as it appeared to be the smallest site, on a decent slope and no hammock poles. No way to hang a hammock within the trees either. It felt cramped and poorly planned. Some tents would not fit I'm sure. Ours is a 2 person backpacking tent and barely fit. There is a fire ring and picnic table. This is near bear country, but the rangers assured us cooking and eating at the sites would be fine, as they see maybe 1-2 bears a year. They tend to stay in the more forested areas of the Ozarks. I was told it was okay to keep coolers at the site, however, I elected to bring our food back to our car every evening and did not eat in the tent as to not attract any other wildlife. A snake crossed our path the first day and we woke up to a large blue herring outside our tent the next day. Some deer poking around. All in all I'm very happy we got out to explore somewhere new. I just wish I would've known more about what to expect. Since I didn't I had to prepare for actual backpacking and also bring the luxuries. You definitely can bring all the creature comforts that you want, esp if you have a folding wagon to minimize trips. The only other thing I would mention is BE PREPARED FOR TICKS/poison ivy/poison oak. They were everywhere. I killed 5 ticks that tried to crawl on me as I sat in my chair. The poison ivy was surrounding us so I was super careful to stay on the trail and wear pants+long socks. You can get to the creek from the campsites if you want (families on both sides of us did) but I didn't feel comfortable with the sheer amount of ticks and poison ivy I kept finding. They were fishing/splashing around and seemed to be having a good time. I recommend Devil's Den trail for an early morning hike as well. The waterfall was beautiful! Caves are still closed, though, so expect that. Also the little store they had on site (open seasonly) was perfect! Bags of ice were like a dollar and I was able to get a Red bull to finish our day of hiking. Lovely place, will definitely be back!
