Here's a hike I went on this spring of 2020. Most trails are closed but this one. And it's close to home.
This is the newest national scenic trail. It is 215 miles long! It's. Called the New England trail.
It goes thru everything from State Forests, city streets, and private land.

The New England National Scenic Trail (NET) is located in southern New England, which includes most of the three single trails Metacomet-Monadnock Trail, Mattabesett Trail and Metacomet Trail. Sometimes called the Triple-M Trail.[1] This route extends through 41 communities from Guilford, Connecticut at Long Island Sound over the Metacomet Ridge, through the highlands of the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts, to the New Hampshire state border.

Please use respect and don't pop a tent in someone's yard or in a public park where you are visible. Some planning is a must. Stealth camping is not allowed. So be respectful.

I used two apps. Alltrails is cool because when used:

...it will notify you when you are off course. This trail is very well marked but there are times that you will miss a blaze.
The Main map I used was the Gaia app. :

... This app will show you where things are like Brooks, streams, landmarks, and shelters. This is a must! This .Kmz can be attached to other apps also.

Water is prevalent but there are certain parts that require you to carry a bit more. So this needs to be planned. I messed up a few times. So try to be more careful than me. Running out of water sucks!

So until more shelters are added it is a great trail for section hiking and a challenge for thru hiking. I would not advise thru-hiking unless you can't do more miles to find a camp. I hope you
