Henry, E1 and E2 arrived by portal to Mr. Rentalov’s hidden space station. The environment was dark, as predicted—robots don’t need creature comforts. E1 and E2 quickly began scanning for a security system signal with their equipment. Henry was looking down the hall seeking any movement that might indicate their presence had been detected. Henry’s helmet displayed his oxygen levels registering at 100 percent for now. There was no oxygen on this abandoned space station—it was refurbished for only robots. Henry could hear the exoskeleton breathing system pushing air into his helmet.

Henry decided to turn on his suit’s stealth mode, and the electronic plastic covering his exoskeleton activated, blending his outline seamlessly into the environment. Henry was effectively invisible. He then noticed that E1 and E2 had found an information port and were in the process of downloading the security bot. The bot operated in the memory space of the device and negotiated the network traffic acting like a router. The AI bot learned the network traffic messages and began adding its own messaging packets to the system to gather enough information to shut down the security kernel then reboot it with a new kernel which it copied from the device to the server. The new kernel used the packet profiles of the old kernel but removed any data related to imaging, sound or sensor packets relating to the operation. The system would reboot causing a system down error then come up and continue broadcasting packets as usual. This would be a moment of vulnerability. “The system is about too reboot,” said E2.
