This Forest Service Roads 211/581 cross and weave around and up and down over the Castle Mountains peaking at about 7200 ft. Directional signs with mileage are at most intersections. The grades vary and the road surface is mostly good through USFS land in the north half. For some reason the south half lacks sustainable maintenance and can be rough, rutted with loose rock and steep. Open range cattle are plentiful. It's mid August and the streams below 5000 feet have water. The higher you go the drier it gets. Lower areas have plenty of mature trees. The environments change throughout the drive. The road is narrow in places and there is some construction along the way. Entry was at Grasshopper Creek and exit was Lennep. Great vistas. Would be even greater with clear skies. Mavic Pro video.
