Deploy Software Using Group Policy

In this video, I show you how to deploy software using group policy. In this example, I deploy google chrome enterprise using the msi file. If you want to deploy an exe file then it is a separate GPO method and I have written instructions for that.

Here is what I cover in this video.

1. How to configure a shared folder that will host the msi install file. One of the biggest issues when deploying software via GPO is incorrect folder permissions. Be sure to watch the entire video as I show you how to properly setup folder permissions. (This is a very important first step).

2. Steps to create a GPO and configure the software deployment settings (super easy).

3. Demonstrate applying the GPO to a remote computer and verify google chrome was installed.

4. How to troubleshoot failed GPO software installs.

If you want to deploy an exe file then it is a different GPO configuration. You will need a script that runs when the user logs into the computer. I have step by step written instructions for deploying an exe.
